Your tuition at the University of Minnesota is assessed according to your:
- Degree or other program registration
- Enrollment level
- Residency status
- Residency in a state or province with a reciprocity agreement
Eligibility
Who is eligible for in-state tuition:
- Veterans with at least 90 days of active duty service.
- Current members of the Minnesota National Guard.
- Current Reservists serving in a Minnesota-based unit.
- All beneficiaries and/or dependents using Federal VA education benefits.
- Individuals using the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship.
Eligible individuals maintain status as long as they remain continuously enrolled at the University of Minnesota, even if enrolled in multiple programs.
How do you get in-state tuition applied to your account:
- Veterans: Turn in a copy of your DD214 to University Veterans Services.
- Activity Duty, National Guard, and Reservists: Proof of Service letter and/or official document that lists your current unit of assignment.
- Note: Eligibility must occur prior to the start of the term, new enlistees of Minnesota-based units will qualify for in-state tuition beginning the first full-term after their enlistment date.
- Dependents: Apply for your GI Bill® through the VA and complete the steps for using your education benefits to get in-state tuition applied to your account.
