This form requests in-school deferment of your Federal Perkins student loans serviced by the University of Minnesota. The Federal Perkins Loan (Perkins Loan) Program includes Federal Perkins Loans, National Direct Student Loans (NDSL) and National Defense Student Loans (Defense Loans). Note that deferment is when you are allowed to postpone repaying your loans.
A One Stop counselor can complete Section 4 AFTER you have completed Section 3 of this form. You can request One Stop complete Section 4 in the following ways:

Don't use this form if...
- You are currently enrolled less than half-time. See our Full-time credits page to see what is considered half-time for your academic career type (undergraduate, graduate, professional, etc.).
- You have NOT borrowed Federal Perkins loans.
- You have borrowed Federal Perkins loans, but the University of Minnesota is NOT your loan servicer.
