How to: Use the GPAS planner

Before you begin

Be certain that you are always on the "Graduate Planning & Audit System (GPAS)" tab and not the "Plan" tab.

  • Be certain that you are always on the "Graduate Planning & Audit System (GPAS)" tab and not the "Plan" tab.
  • Only add coursework to planner that you have not completed or enrolled in.
  • All courses must be planned for a term and year; see Setting the academic term for your planned classes.
  • If you would like to elect a minor, go to z.umn.edu/gradminor.

The Graduate Planning and Audit System (GPAS) consists of two parts that work together: the planner and the audit (advisement report). The planner allows you to map out future coursework you plan to complete for your degree(s). The audit displays how you are fulfilling your degree requirements based on the coursework you have completed and are planning to take. This guide will focus on the planner component of GPAS. Complete your GPAS plan by doing the following

  1. Select a program you will plan against. 
  2. Add courses 
    1. Use plan requirements 
    2. Browse the course catalog 
    3. Enter transfer coursework 
  3. Set the academic term for your planned classes
  4. Submit your plan for approval
