All orientations will be in B20 Fraser Hall.
The two hour program will include
peer support and mentoring; financial aid and policies and procedures
information; information on the GI Bill; an overview of veterans
benefits; and information about on campus resources for student
veterans, such as the Veterans Transition Center. Information on other
campus resources such as Disability Services, Boynton Health services,
the Office for Student Affairs, and University Counseling Services will
also be available. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask
questions of
all presenters.
Students will also be encouraged
to complete the necessary paperwork to vet VA and military education
benefits initiated. E-mails and letters will be sent to new and
transfer students who will be starting classes in fall 2008; all
students who receive veterans and military benefits are encouraged to
attend. If you or your staff are
working with student veterans, please encourage them to come to one of
the

Save the date for the annual UMACRAO conference
It's never too early to mark your calendars for the Upper Midwest Association of Collegiate Registrar's and Admissions Officers (UMACRAO) annual conference. The 2008 annual conference will be held October 22 through October 24 at the Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester, Minnesota. Conference and registration details will be appearing on the UMACRAO Web site (www.umacrao.org) later this summer.
West Bank Bursar office is closing
On May 30, the West Bank Bursar office will be closing permanently. There will be a Bursar Department Deposit drop box located in 55 Heller Hall for departments to use to make their deposits to the Bursar. The office will be providing some training to departments on the use of this box. Please inform anyone you believe should know about this closure.
Save the date for the August RAC meeting
All student service and advising staff are invited to attend the August Registrar's Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting on Monday, August 4 from 9:00 until noon in 155 Nicholson Hall.
This meeting is an opportunity to hear important updates from staff in the Office of the Registrar, Office of Student Finance, One Stop Student Services, and the Academic Support Resources (ASR) Information Technology Unit. Updates from Information Management Systems and your collegiate colleagues are also provided. This meetings are critical to informing how ASR can best support the important work of all those who work with students. Learn about, and contribute to, projects, policies, and processes that support students' educational experiences.
If you have any questions about RAC or would like to be added to the RAC listserv, please contact Ingrid Nuttall at ingridn@umn.edu.
