Fall 2005 Class Permission Number Charts


April 7-September 19

Beginning with registration through the second week of the semester

Permission granted by

Instructor, Department, or College.

Use Class Permission Numbers to

  • Override permission
  • Override class limit
  • Override requisites
(Not to override time conflict and not to override credit maximum)

Note: Some classes and/or departments will require Student Specific Permission.

Instructor and department issued permission expires as of September 20th.

Departments print a list of Class Permission Numbers from the web at http://www.umreports.umn.edu. (Available late March)

The instructor or department distributes the permission number to individual students.

Students register using the permission number online, in person, by fax, or by mail.

Note: Students issued Student Specific Permission will not receive a number, but are cleared for registration in the class.


September 20-December 14

Weeks Three through Fifteen Permission granted by College Scholastic Committee Use Student Specific Permission to

  • Override permission
  • Override class limit
  • Override requisites
(Not to override time conflict and not to override credit maximum)

Instructors and departments are no longer able to distribute valid Class Permission Numbers or grant Student Specific Permission.

Students obtain written approval from their instructor.

Students take written instructor approval to their college office for Scholastic Committee review.

If Scholastic Committee approval is granted, the college enters the student's ID# in the Class Permission Number panel in PeopleSoft.

Students are cleared to register online through October 31, in person, by fax, or by mail.

Note: Weeks 9-15 students cannot register on the web.
