Financial aid for study abroad and other off-campus learning opportunities
You must be admitted to a degree-seeking program to receive financial aid for
study abroad and other off-campus learning programs available at the University.
The Learning Abroad Center
(LAC) offers semester, academic year, and winter break and May/summer term international
study programs, while the Career
& Community Learning Center (CCLC) offers information on the National
Student Exchange (NSE) , a program of semester or academic year exchanges within
a consortium of U. S. and Canadian colleges and universities, and the Higher
Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA) that offers three Twin Cities
area programs with a focus on environmental sustainability, the arts, and urban
studies.
Most types of financial aid may
be used for study abroad and NSE programs, including grants, scholarships, and
student loans. However, National Scholarship and reciprocity waivers do not apply to
study abroad programs.
You are urged to complete your financial aid requirements at least two months
prior to your departure. The LAC Web site describes the wide variety of programs
and financial resources available to you, along with the steps required to finance
your study abroad experience. Go to the Read about section on the upper left to get started.
