Horatio Alger Association Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. The University of Minnesota is a participant in the Horatio Alger Association Collegiate Partners Program.
A successful candidate must:
- be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the U.S.
- be a full-time high school senior who is a spring/summer 2008 graduate planning to enter college in the fall 2008
- pursue a bachelors degree at an accredited institution
- demonstrate critical financial need
- be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
- have a minimum 2.0 GPA
To apply:
- submit an online application at horatioalger.org/scholarships.
- submit one letter of support from an adult who understands your adversity and can describe the unique circumstances of your life.
- download and complete the certifications page, obtaining the proper signatures prior to mailing.
- submit a photo copy of the front page of your parent/guardian¿s 2006 federal tax return
