Scholarship reporting requirement
Report any scholarships you receive from any outside organization (such as your high school, parent's employer, or local civic organization) to the student-athete financial aid coordinator. Also, the donor organization must provide documentation of the award to the coordinator to verify that your award complies with NCAA rules and ensure that the award amount is disbursed properly.
Payment of any outside scholarship funds cannot be made until the Student-Athlete Outside Aid Award form is completed by all parties and reviewed by the coordinator. Failure to report outside scholarship information to the University may create an NCAA violation and jeopardize your eligibility.
NCAA bylaws restrict you, the student-athlete, from cashing scholarship checks yourself. Do not submit your scholarship checks to the University Bursar's Office or your bank. Outside scholarship checks must be sent to the following address:
Office of Student Finance, Fiscal Unit
Double-check to be sure that your full name and University of Minnesota student
ID number are listed on the check.
