Renegotiation and extreme hardship deferment
If you encounter difficulties in making payments as required by your repayment schedule, you may be eligible for renegotiation of your payment plan or an extreme hardship deferment. Renegotiation allows you to make reduced payments for a limited time period. If you have a financial hardship, your principal loan payments will be temporarily suspended; however, you will still be charged interest on the payments.
To renegotiate your loan payment terms or request a hardship deferment, you must contact Student Financial Collections, whose responsibility it is to review your documentation and determine your eligibility for renegotiation or deferment. You will also be required to complete and submit the Payment Plan Change Request and Financial Statement for SFC review.
