Failure to serve
You will lose the beneficial repayment terms of the PCL funds if you:
- drop below half-time enrollment in a qualifying primary health care degree
program or withdraw from school
- fail to fulfill your service obligation during repayment.
You will lose the one-year grace period and repayment begins
immediately. Your interest rate will increase to 18 percent (for loans awarded
after November 1998), or 12 percent (for loans awarded prior to November 1998) from
the date that you withdraw from school or your qualifying service ends. If you
have not yet completed your studies, these provisions will not take affect until
the point the above adjustments are made and repayment begins.
In either circumstance, you may repay your loan balance in
full prior to leaving school or graduation in order to avoid the penalties. For further information on the billing process and payment methods available, please see University-administered loan payments.
