Enrollment Criteria
Scholarships usually require full-time
enrollment. If you receive a private scholarship that
does not require full-time enrollment, we must receive
written authorization from the donor before disbursement
will occur. Grants require full-time enrollment, or,
in some cases, will be adjusted by a prorated amount
on less than full-time enrollment. Your Pell Grant,
for instance, will be adjusted according to your enrollment
status, e.g., 75 percent of the full award if you enroll
three-quarter time or 50 percent if you enroll half-time.
However, you must have full-time status to receive a
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant or
a University Partnership Grant. You must be registered
at least half time to be eligible for Ford Federal Direct
student loans. Federal Perkins Loans and University
Trust Fund Loans require full-time enrollment.
Before your financial aid funds can
be paid to your student account you must meet the minimum
enrollment status required by the funds you have accepted.
You must also meet any criteria specific to the aid
program(s) from which you accept aid. Go to the program
descriptions detailed in Types of Aid Programs.
Exceptions to the full-time enrollment requirement can
be made for some aid programs (excluding Federal Pell
and Minnesota State grants) if you are an undergraduate
in your final term of study. You must have your academic
advisor provide written verification that the credits
for which you are registered will fulfill the graduate
requirements.
OSF will verify your upcoming semesters
initial enrollment approximately two weeks prior to
the start of the term. Your financial aid awards will
be adjusted to reflect your actual enrollment on that
date so we can disburse your financial aid to your student
account at the earliest opportunity. After your initial
disbursement each semester, your enrollment will be
verified for the second and final time each term at
the end of the cancel/add period. Final adjustments
to your terms aid are made; additional aid is
paid if you now qualify because of increased credits
or, if you reduced credits, your student account will
be billed back any aid funds for which you no longer
qualify.
PLEASE NOTE: Audited course work and
extended term online telecommunications and correspondence
courses are not eligible for financial aid.
