Service & usage fees

The following fees will be charged to students whose actions prompt the assessment, as described here.

Varies Communication disorders evaluation & therapy fees - Full-time students pay the minimum fee for clinical hearing evaluation and treatment of communication disorders related to speech, language, and cognition at the Julia M. Davis Speech-Language-Hearing Center. A sliding scale of reduced fees is available to individuals who pre-qualify based on documented financial need. Duplicate Diploma fee - Charged for duplicate and replacement diplomas

Installment Payment Plan fee - Flat fee charged each term for the University student account installment payment plan

Late Payment fee - Assessed per billing cycle for payments received after the billing statement due date

Late Registration fee - For any initial registration during the first two weeks of any session (regular, first, or second session)

Music Practice Rooms fee - Rooms with upright or grand piano, harp, harpsichord, organ, or percussion as well as rooms with no instrument are available on a per semester basis. Check in 100 Ferguson Hall for rental information and rates.

Return Item fee - Assessed for any returned check or electronic payment

Stop Payment fee - Assessed when a refund check must be re-issued after a student has failed to provide the correct address.
Varies Official transcript fee - Assessed according to the delivery option selected, e.g., rush, priority overnight, international priority (unofficial transcripts are available online at no cost)

U Card replacement fee - Lost, stolen, or damaged U Cards may be replaced for a fee. Lost or stolen cards should be deactivated online immediately at http://www.umn.edu/ucard to prevent unauthorized use of your card. Once your U Card has been deactivated, it cannot be reactivated. Call the U Card offce at 612-626-9900 or visit http://www.umn.edu/ucard to obtain current information on hours.

University Recreation Center member fee - Fees for membership and access to a variety of recreational activities, including aquatics, intramurals, fitness programs, aerobics, open recreation, court sports, sports clubs, rock climbing, and other activities. Some activities require additional fees. Lockers and towels can be rented at the University Recreation Center and the St. Paul Gymnasium. A valid U Card is required to enter Recreational Sports facilities. Membership available to:
  • Currently registered students who have been assessed the student services fee will need to provide proof of that assessment by presenting their U Card.
  • Currently registered students who are not assessed the student services fee must purchase a semester membership to become eligible to use recreational facilities and programs.
  • Similar memberships (at different costs) are available for faculty, staff, and spouses/partners of members.
  • Summer memberships are also available to students, faculty, and staff from all University of Minnesota campuses.
